Electric windows

Featured Replies

Hi there. I have a problem with both electric windows on a skoda fabia 2008 1.6, 4 door. I have electric windows at the front only and no window locking button.

The passenger window does not work from switch or drivers switch and there is no whiring noise however if I remove the fuse for that window and then put back it works via the passenger switch but not the drivers. It will continue working until the engine is switched off and then when the engine re starts, it no longer works unless the fuse is removed again and put back. I have also tried leaving the fuse out for 24hrs but still the same problem. Can anyone help me with this problem. Many thanks

@Singinglisa - Hiya. These problems usually trace to the wiring in the driver's door.

Thanks Ken

With ours the electrical problems (including issues with electric windows) were caused by 6 broken wires in the drivers door wiring loom. and a new switch/ regulator for electric windows on drivers side.

Replacement of the wiring loom at Skoda dealer cost £220, with the loom itself coming in at £85. Took an hour and a half.

Part number 5J0971120HG for loom

Part number 1Z0959858REH for switch/ regulator

Hi Sittingbull. Thanks for giving me an idea of how much it could cost. I am hoping someone may have experienced the same thing when taking out and putting back the fuse and hopefully I might be able to fix myself. Cheers

mine was a dirty connection inside the door to the motor, all i did was take the wire out of the motor then cleaned it, plugged it back in and all worked.
