Second hand Columbus

Featured Replies

Hi I bought a Columbus unit this week from eBay for a reasonable price and I have been told they apparently run DVD’s. I put the dvd in the unit and the system recognised the disc being inserted by saying loading disc or something then never loads up any further to the film screen but works with cds.

Is it a genuine dvd or a copied disc?

Sounds like it might be faulty.

I had the same problem but my system won’t update so it won’t work but the unit I perfect still without the feature. Rustynuts is very helpful when it comes to Columbus units he should be able to help.

The discs are original

Then probably a faulty unit.

Would replacing the dvd drive do it or does it have to do with something more internal

Sometimes it's the drive, sometimes it's a main board fault.

I have a couple of old laptop dvd drives would they work or as I imagine it would need to be a Columbus dvd drive

Completely different drives mate.

Hi rusty Adam here just out of curiosity could (my unit as it won’t load the original dvd discs) but do you think it could be the dvd drive and by replacing the drive it could work as I remember you previously said it won’t update due to the dvd drive.

No, it's not the drive in your unit mate. I wouldn't sell something with a simple fix, yours is the main board software fault.

Would it be possible to put videos onto a sd card and watch them on the unit as there is a sd card slot and on the media interface there is sd card option

No, not possible I'm afraid.

Oh does it only work with songs

MP3 only I'm afraid.
