Liquid under bonnet. Any ideas?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I topped my washer bottle up after a drive this afternoon and noticed a small puddle of liquid behind the oil filler. I've taken a couple of photos, could it be condensation from somewhere? Any ideas? 🤔

Thanks in advance.

Have you stuck your finger in it to see whether it is water or oily. Is it clear or coloured? It is very difficult to see on the photos.

Also have you washed the car recently or driven through some heavy rain?

I can't see any fluid, just looks like the normal gloss black potting compound that you find on top of coil packs and sensors.

Did you actually touch it or just look and panic?

Couldn't get my fingers to it, so rolled up some kitchen roll and soaked it up. It's clear and doesn't smell.

It's probably oil from a top up looking at the location of the oil filler cap.

Having soaked it up the other night, I was surprised to see the liquid back again (see pic). Visit to the dealership needed I reckon.
