15% off selected BlueFin.

Featured Replies

For those who are interested or care, Bluefin have 15% off selected products, which includes the latest crop of Fabia. Makes it £339.

As tempted as I am, I'm aware of the fact that;

(a) they've got the reported torque incorrect for the 1.0 95ps as 175NM, not 160NM. I've advised them on this and their response was that some come out of the factory with more.

(b) Even a 48NM gain would take the 5sp over the 200NM threshold, at 208NM (153ftlb). I wouldn't be too concerned about this as I don't (often) hoon the car but I do fair mileage (approx 350-400/wk).

Anyway, it's a good saving versus the typical £400 price tag for the 'remap it at home' thingy, and they've had respectable reviews from what I've seen.

P.s. not affiliated, etc. etc.

Whats the 200Nm threshold?

MQ200 gearbox, 5sp, has a rating to 200NM. That is, the clutch can bite and hold at that level of torque, over that and you run risk of the clutch slipping.

MQ250 gearbox, 6sp, has a rating of 250NM.

That being said, I don't know whether there's much of a tolerance above that 200NM threshold. 8NM is 4% over, so it might be fine?

Good to know.

I have the 95ps (2017) which reports a 59Nm increase in torque so this would probably be no good for me.

They list that year as CHZL engine but mine is CHZB, not sure what the difference is there.

I wouldn't know, unfortunately.

For this reason I'm more tempted by a DTUK box as it can be removed and sold on if the clutch starts slipping, recuperating at least some funds. With the Bluefin you can remove it but that's money down the ****er, so...

It would be interesting to see how people have got on with this and if the clutch holds up well. I don't fancy getting one to find out my clutch is gone after a few months.

True - I'd be interested too, but I don't think there's much anecdotal info around. I've spotted one or two mentions with 95ps Polo or Ibiza, but nothing in-depth.

Well if you see anything or end up going for one yourself let me know.

I am driving a golf 1.0 tsi 110ps. Bluefin does not have a map for this variant but they do have it for 115ps. I have read VW repair guide and SSP and found that actually, all 95,110,115 are same engine, probably with different ECU map. In fact, for CHZC listed 200Nm at 1500-3500rpm in workshop manual while SSP listed as 200Nm at 2000-3500rpm. Back to bluefin, since they do not have a map for this engine, what they are going to do is I will send the stock map to them and they will tune up (was told something like 0.1bar boost pressure increase). BTW, mine is DQ200, so my torque can go up to 250Nm. Looking at this thread, it might enlightened me that why 1.0tsi engine is capped at 200Nm (engine limit or setup lime?), so it may be the MQ200 manual box. So they might set same tune across whole engine variant to meet the torque limit of the manual box instead of doing another tune map for DSG. Make sense? Of course, other reasons such as mpg, emission may play a factor into the power output. Anyway, i am very likely to have it remap with superchip instead of other tuners that promise to hit 240Nm. I was like "wow", that's 20% increase.

What you guy think?

Yes, it is the MQ200 5 speed manual I referred to, so the limit/threshold is what the clutch is rated at, not the engine as we know the engine can be taken above 200NM (in the case of remapping the 110ps).

Regardless, if they claim that the torque after remap is above the 200NM that my car's clutch is rated at, I'm hesitant to have clutch slipping when I have the car for another 3 and 1/2 years, and do approximately 1,200-1,400 miles per month.

Hi Benz3ne, you mentioned "as we know engine can be taken above 200Nm....", what makes you sure?

The 110ps comes with 200NM as stock, and can be remapped above this. You would not be able to increase the peak power whilst keeping the torque the same.

i had chipped up my 1.0. S1>S2 upshift jerks while D1>D2 ok. Checking with tuner now.

Let me know what approximate figures your power and torque are after the remap, please?
