  1. I’ve seen a thing about a number of warnings flashing on startup including TPMS, hill hold, parkpilot etc being linked to either a faulty or dirty ABS sensor (iirc). I saw it myself first-hand after a particularly sedentary, salty drive not too long ago. After the drive home, no issues to be seen. Also no issues during the drive.
  2. I was under the impression the clutch disengages when brake is pressed. brake is pressed to change from R to D, therefore there’s a slight delay before it reengages. Could be way off the mark however.
  3. Good to know! I’m in Swansea but travel between Llanelli and Cardiff for work so down that sort of area anyway. 👍
  4. Yup, my non-Vrs estate facelift does, especially when parking up on hills. I’ve put that down to bushes creaking which isn’t a major issue for me. I do have a bit of a “knockety” sound intermittently though, sounds like an under-tray/panel that is loose but more prevalent at lowish speeds, over consistently uneven road (as is commonplace here in Wales). I’ll be flagging that up with the dealer shortly as my concern is that it could be a duffed spring or drop link (plus I need to check that it’s not something in the boot...) even though the car has only done 10k miles (but will also give me an opportunity to flag up creaky suspension). Different issue for a different thread, I guess!
  5. Yes, the Octavia is a recent change and the DSG models (for Fabia and Octavia) have hill-hold as standard. This was done on a Fabia III (1.0tsi Colour Edition, 5sp Manual). I also did cornering fogs, refill quantity, lap timer (lol), throttle input type and needle sweep while I had the trial membership.
  6. Used the free trial membership, went onto 'Customise', then there's a subsection for something like 'Driving' if I recall correctly and 'hill hold'. Activated that and pressed 'save' then it showed a loading screen and 'complete' thereafter. Worked like a charm after that'd be done.
  7. Right so I have pins which I've crimped to either side of a circa 2m-long 1mm single-core cable. I can access the connector behind the auto-lights switch, which I've put in place for the time being. I've no doubt I can access the BCM, but what is the best way to route the cable from one to the other? Are there any other bits of trim that need to be removed (I'm thinking from driver's side)? Cheers in advance!
  8. They could’ve just had the window open? 🤣 Worth asking rather than assuming.
  9. Was air con on? I’ve noticed if that’s going that revs hang a little higher (and not just on a dsg octy).
  10. I was happy with 49mpg total yesterday. Around 50 miles mixed driving including a stint at 80mph ish on the 23 miles back, not overly cautious throughout. That 83mpg is incredible though. Top work. Mine with a 1.5tsi DSG SE Estate.
  11. Sensor received, cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and installed with the help of an immensely thorough video. Tested the auto wiper function and it works! It seems reasonably keen to wipe when wet so I’ll be tinkering around with the sensitivity on the stalk next time it rains here (which shouldn’t be that far away, really). Just waiting on the pins so I can draw up a length of cable and route that hopefully this weekend! Then it’s auto lights in the bag too (hopefully)! Any idea whether there’d be a fault or similar for the humidity sensor that I could check quickly without VCDS just to make sure the sensor is tip-top? Aaaand the useful video:
  12. Agreed about the badges! Shame they don't do them in Quartz Grey on AliExpress or I'd have already bought a set! 😅
  13. Diolch yn fawr, Sasha, ti’n seren! I have the humidity sensor so hopefully it won’t be a pain to install the new sensor! Good to know also re: coding and what is/isn’t required. I’ll definitely revisit that in due course but right now I don’t have anything to code with (eyeing up OBDEleven) so can sort the coding thereafter.
  14. Update: That escalated quickly. A used, tested one from an Audi something-or-other with the same part number for the sensor on eBay came to my attention. Purchased for £25, same price to get one from China. Should be here in the next couple of days.
