Oil Service

Featured Replies

Can anyone update me what involves  in oil service, is it gearbox oil change or engine oil change?  I have done only 1450 miles due to ill health, do you think that it would be safe to skip this oil service due to low milage on my edition model 1.5 TSI. I learnt from youtube that it is easy to delete oil service reminder. I would apprecitae your opinions, Thanks

Well, I’d say have it done (engine oil) ‘cause it’ll avoid any warranty issue claims and sales staff getting all arsey when you come to sell.

How long have you had the Karoq and what type of journeys have made up the mileage?

If the oil change reminder is showing then best to change the engine oil and filter, remember the engine is also turbocharged.

I would do so and have done so on other vehicles especially when still covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

The first service, irrespective of service interval is oil and oil filter only.

If you skip the service you'll void your three year manufacturers warranty. Service history is electronically stored, so whilst the mileage is low, it'll show it hasn't been serviced at the 12 month interval.

Is the car now 12 Months old?

   & Not 24 months?

If 24 months then the Oil & Filter change / Servicing needs carried out to keep the Manufacturers Warranty Valid.

The Manufacturers Warranty T&C says 'Service in accordance with Manufacturers Recommendations.

The car left the factory set to Variable / Flexible Servicing. *With Long Life Oil.*

A Dealership Employee at the PDI changed the Service Interval from Variable to Fixed.

'That was what they wanted to do unless you are asked or the lease if there is a lease or the service plan requires.'

You do not Void the Manufacturers Warranty by not changing the Oil and filter at 12 months / 9,400 miles, which ever comes sooner.

If you wait till 18,000 miles / 24 months which ever comes first that is the Manufacturers set Service schedule .

But then the Dealership has set to fixed, there is the issue, but not doing an oil / filter change does not Void or Invalidate the Warranty.
