Garage mistake but it is how well they deal with it.

It's an unfortunate fact of life that whenever a human hand touches part of your car you have as much chance of something going wrong as going right.

What I want is a car which is put together at the factory and then doesn't need touching during its lifetime.

Had my car serviced and DSG oil change recently at local specialist.  couple of weeks later I, luckily, noticed that the engine undertray was hanging down at one side of the car.

There are 4 screws which hold this on, all were missing on one side, no way had they all just fallen out if tightened up correctly.  Don't know what I'll be doing for the next service, don't really want to give them a second chance.

To "Gdcobra" - I am almost like you :) I goes crazy when the Car Mechanic need to touch my "Superb". First I try to understand maximum information for the problem for not to be so easy misled..

I must admit I have trust issues and this is not helped by the fact that I'm more than capable of doing most jobs myself (as name implies) but try to keep away from working on my "daily driver".

Problem now is I'm thinking "if I can't trust the guy to fasten up some screws (or advise me some were missing) can I trust him to have done all the work I requested".  I do hope my gearbox oil was changed!

I think I'll be moving back to looking after car myself in future, should only need basics for the rest of the time I'll have it.

Hi Danny. Having had a terrible experience with my local dealer (gory details on the Mk3 Superb board) would you be prepared to "name and glorify" the dealer? I'd be much happier going to one that admits and rectified mistakes (even though they shouldn't happen in the first place) than one (like mine) that tries to bluff and hide mistakes. If you don't want to say on here, a PM would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

My dealer for the past 8 years has been Capitol Skoda, Newport, who I have a very good relationship with.

Might be worth copying this post in the dealer review section, I see you've given glowing feedback before...

Its always worth mentioning good service to counteract the plenty of bad experiences we get to hear of.
