Inlet manifold flap motor

Featured Replies

Hi all, don't know if this has been answered before but a quick search didn't yield any results so here goes.

I have a octavia 1.9 tdi Estate on a 56 plate, the eml light appeared recently, had it cleared but came back after a few days. My car does not have the fuse box above the battery as mentioned in other threads, or indeed any radiator fuse that is shared with the imf motor in any of the fuse boxes as far as I can see. I see some threads on the 2.0 motor, but not on the 1.9.The car is running fine and there are no shuddering issues on shutdown, which from reading threads here is the flaps main function.

Some suggest to clean the imf with carb cleaner, others say don't, it will cause damage.. So is my only option to replace the imf assembly?.

Some suggest if it is replaced then it needs to be recalibrated, is this so?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated
