Hi All.  Hope someone can help.  Following an earlier thread of mine a mechanic pal of mine tried to fit a replacemnt unit to our car.  The part was incorrect, and I am in the process of returning it (tried my luck with ebay)

 

The actual part in the car is  5K0.953.569.e    Does anyone know where I can purchase this part?  I've seen second hand ones on ebay for about £90, and looks like it is the same part as is fitted on a Mark 6 golf.   I'd like a new one if possible/ reasonable cost - but if not, I'll head down the second hand route.

FYI it's available from skoda-parts.com for Eur292.92 plus about Eur 10 shipping.

Here's one on fleabay that looks promising - and "only" £119.99

 

Also worth a look on gumtree and preloved to find someone breaking the correct car - maybe near you?

 

Another trick is to put a request into one of the premium parts search sites - like parts finder - and then use Google{tm} to find a normal phone number for any hits you get instead of paying through the nose to use the premium numbers they offer you.

Given that it operates the airbag, which is a very effective and safety critical subsystem, they're not that expensive! Skimping by buying one from a breaker might be though!
