Removing Multimedia Unit Glovebox

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'm trying to fit a camera to my Kodiaq (Requires accessing the back of the Multimedia Unit within the glovebox), I've successfully managed to find the keys online to release the unit, one issue I'm having is when slidding the unit out of its housing it only slides/pulls out the whole length of the unit plus about 1cm gap behind, to small of a gap to get my hands round the back to unplug the wires and remove.  Anyone else having the same issue when removing the unit?

Do you mean a rear parking camera, or a dash cam?

Some images here that might help...

Might be worth asking @ziondavidov...

Hi Silver 1011,

Thank you for the images, this will help me for future projects. I'm trying to install a reversing camera. The lead I have plugs into the multimedia unit in the glovebox which has the SD card reader built in.

Ah, OK. It looks like the wiring loom on the back has a hinged lever to release it. Is there enough slack to reach it? See 'Step 2'...

Thanks for the Images, trouble is I can't get the unit out that far to release the wiring loom 😞

Did you figured it out? I have exact same problem

Unfortunately not :-(

Ok, this is not god.

I will try to remove all the trim in order to access the cables, which i think are the ones that do not let pull out the unit.

Best of luck, please can you keep me updated on how it goes.

I did it, you have to remove the whole glove box.

if you want  to do it le me know and will explain more details.

it is better if we use an IM app like WhatsApp, let me know

Why can you not post your solution on here? It would help others trying to do the same.

Yes i can, the solution is the get the whole glove box out by removing the 3 screws on top and two at the bottom.

Then you ave access to the back  the unit and unplug the cables.

Hope this will help, if some one needs more detail info we could to videocall  if you want.

Pictures / photos  would be better, were you able to take any?

Just one, unit is already out.

Got to the back of the unit :-) unfortuently the adaptor I was trying to fit was the wrong size/type sent to me, even though labeled Kodiaq in Chinese :-( . Just ordered another  RGA rear parking adaptor from AliExpress, fingers crossed it will be the right one arriving.

Jsilva_2 Were you undertake a similar project ?

Hi

how did you release both push buttons to open the lower and upper glove box?

I tried everything but can’t get it done. And therefore also I can’t get the complete lower box back in place 😩. There is no need to remove the upper box as well?

thank you so much for your help

I did not release the buttons mechanism, i removed the unit like it is

shown in the picture, even though I recommend to be careful otherwise you could damage the upper glove box mechanism (it happened to me).

Ok thanks

well I can’t get the box back in place any more as the button mechanism is still connected and now blocks somehow. So is there a way to safely disconnect it?

I got the a picture that could help release the mechanism

@Jsilva_2 @phdelia Any hints on how to get the upper glove box to close??

if i remember i kept both boxes closed with my one hand and i pushed the upper box button 1or 2 times and the latches locked correctly.  I may play also with the buttom bottom one . After that it remained closed opened everything again and closed normally. There is no calibration available for the cable

Thanks, this helped. It still opens when I'm driving though! I'll keep trying.
