Headlight washer system

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just doing a bit of Superb house keeping whilst sat in the queue at the barbers.

My car has the headlight washer panels in the bumper, but I've not seen the system activate yet. The build sheet says that it doesn't have the headlight washer system either, but I was being hopeful that it might be there and just needs a bit of VCDS tweaking.

I know I don't have Xenon headlights, but is there an easy way to tell if I have HIDs and therefore maybe the headlight washer system too?

Thanks!

Xenon and HID are commonly used interchangeably when talking about car headlights. If you have stock halogen bulbs, then it probably won't have headlight washers fitted.

I think all Superbs got the little panel where a washer jet would be fitted as part of the design.

Headlamp wash and an automatic headlight leveling system are mandatory if Xenon/HID are fitted to the car from the manufacturer. Dirty headlights cause refracted light which could dazzle other motorists and load changes or road surface relief does too.

Would need your reg (PM) to look up the PR codes for your car to see if it left the factory with them.  If they were fitted as an option, they would be working unless someone has changed the vehicles coding, or the pump/pump control has packed up,

Turn the headlights on with the ignition on and operate the wiper stalk a few times, my A6 fired off the headlight wash every time, Skoda H/L wash every few screen wash applications on my car. I think this can be changed with diagnostics, but not bothered to look into it.

They come out under the water pressure so you can gently pull them out, if yours are solid, they will just be covers.  A large puddle under the bumper would indicate a union popped off or split pipe which will cause them not to deploy.

Just read your post again and you say the build sheet says it does not have them (assuming you are referring to the factory PR list for your VIN), I think you answered your own question
