Octavia Mk2 FL Xenon projectors...

Featured Replies

Hi!

I own a 2012 Mk2 FL Octavia, and slowly but surely getting blind as a bat with my factory xenon headlights (also adaptive and cornering...).

Does anybody happen to know the part no. for the replacement projectors, or any suitable replacements?

And if somebody stumbled on a DIY I would be grateful if you could share...

Thanks!

The projectors aren't designed to be replaced I'm afraid, instead the entire headlights would be replaced on both sides if the projectors are damaged or burnt.

If you do want to DIY it, the first challenge is splitting the headlight lens from the headlight. I don't believe the normal oven trick helps as they are 'permasealed' rather then using something that softens with heat. Assuming you can get the headlight lens out, the projector is a Hella Gen2/EvoX-R/E55 style. Most you'll find online are LHD which I think are fine for Hungary, they'll probably also be bi-xenon so you can hook the shutter up to your high beams to get more light.

Are you sure the projectors are at fault? Given the car is 7 years old you might just need new D1s bulbs...

Might be worth using a mirror on a stick to inspect the projector lens and reflector for damage :)

edit:

I can't do simple maths... 2019-2012 != 9

Thank you!

I changed the bulbs, brand new Osram D1S's went in, exactly the same as the original ones. It did not help almost at all.

Thank you for the mirror tip, I did not think of it, maybe just a cleaning will help me some more.

The units can be opened up, I know about some guys who are doing that, just some more digging needed on exactly how to do that, and with what to put them back in place.
