Hub/Centre cap spring (circle metal thing)

Featured Replies

A while ago a garage didn’t put the round circle metal clip things back into my hub caps (pre fl).

The new style caps don’t come with them and I don’t want to order the old style just for that part.

Anyone know if they are needed and if so where I can get some?

If the new style ones do not come with them then I would assume they are not needed, however, if they are then scrapyard would be your best bet I would think, or try some friendly Skoda garage like Hortons.........

Very helpful when I needed some console bolts.

Improvise with a bit of wire coat hanger.

I think the issue is that aftermarket caps don't have the lip to hold the metal ring in place .... If it's a case of the garage refitted your old caps withought the rings I'd be looking at them to replace them although I don't understand why they'd remove the ring in the first place

Raises the question.........."new style caps" indicated to me, Skoda brand

Aftermarket???, then if they don't have the lip the wire clips will be useless i think anyway........

So, 'new style skoda, or aftermarket ie other manufacturer???

@Morph Do you mean wheel embellishers, or centre caps that only cover the spigot holes?

You can replace either as a dust cover by removing the wheel, and stretching some cooking foil (best  with heavy duty stuff) over the spigot, then replacing the wheel.

I’m talking about the metal circular things like that in the pic.

I have oem new style caps but

having a bit of a moment now and can’t remember if the new ones came with these?

I'm not sure if the new style ones come with the ring or not as I've never replaced mines, yet, but I know the old style ones do if they're genuine skoda parts ....

The rings imply acts as a tensioner to help hold the cap in place on the wheel... If the replacement ones you've fitted haven't fallen of yet or rattle about on the wheel then they're either fitted to them or they don't require them ... I know from reading posts on here, and elsewhere that some of the aftermarket caps can be a very poor fit whilst others fit perfectly with no issue after all
