Am I right in thinking switch inside tailgate lock is foopard, tailgate locks and unlocks on central locking and opens on handle pad part, but doesn't register open on dash doesn't power up luggage space lamp and if tailgate opened first and no doors opened first sets of alarm, I've looked at it no corrosion etc mint inside tailgate 

Might be a broken wire somewhere... This is very common in Skoda/VW doors but I suppose less so on tailgates. Not sure if a blown tailgate bulb would make the dash light fail to go on. Easy to rectify the bulb though, if blown.

Put a new luggage lamp  unit in before I realised the dash warning wasn't working, then I'd unlocked car and just opened tailgate to put something in alarm went off, this lead me to lock mechanism which has a micro switch in it, so I've ordered a new lock unit as all wiring was perfect and no corrosion found. Fingers crossed 🤞

Hopefully you ordered from main dealer as that will have two year warranty and often cheaper then other places (£30 mark, if its the "Pop"). I was told to keep it clean and don't lube it as they go up the creak rapidly then!

Just as an aside, do you have the boot opener on the drivers door, too? Might be relevant.

Yes got the switch in drivers door, hadn't thought about that, 

Some things are easily overlooked...

Turns out button on drivers door is interior alarm off switch, replacement tailgate lock hasn't turned up may aswell go main dealer, 

My model has no alarm or boot opener from drivers door, just aware they were fitted to some.

New genuine tailgate lock fitted, dash open warning and luggage light now working and alarm not going off 😂👍

good news.

 

Ours doesn't open other than press and hold button on key fob, told it needed switch changing. But, as ever with these its not that simple. Reverse lights not working so i would place some money on wiring problem. We changed front door loom, I'm thinking rear electrics next.

 

Wheels refurbished tomorrow. Feels never ending.
