Fabia mk2 airbag light after fitting after market seats

Featured Replies

Hello I'm after some advice My wife had a mk1 vrs fabia which has been written off so I decided to take out the seats and fit them to my mk2 fabia. All went perfectly well until I couldn't plug the connection in so the airbag light has come on. I've included pictures I'm wondering is there some way to modify the wiring or plug something in etc to make the light go out before it's mot.

Thanks in advance

I take it the MK1 Fabia didn’t have side airbags then?

No it didn't no which I've only just found out today

You will need a resistor then to put in each plug to fool the airbag ECU into thinking the bags are there and then the codes clearing.

That sounds good I may go to a car tech place see what they charge for this. Shame there's nothing I can just plug in my friend was on about cutting the wires and jointing them but with 3 wires it sounds like if I judge wrong it could open a whole can of worms.

Really appreciate your advice I've took a screenshot so I'll ask about having this done. Thanks again

You can’t just cut the wires as it is expecting to see a resistance of an airbag.

Just another quick one.... You don't think it will reset my remap do you? Thanks again

You don't think it will affect my remap do you?

It will not affect your remap.

It will affect your safety in another write off, though. The newer car is designed to have side airbags and your insurance company will almost certainly like to know you have removed them!
