Fuse issue

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I wonder what fuse should be used in the slot 27. I have the 20A plugged already, but the manual says I should use 15A.

The 15A caused errors in my engine, transmission, EPC and ABS brake system.

The dealer manual also says 15amp and depending on what engine you have it's for the list below

Fuel pump control unit (for engine identification characters CAXA, CDAB, CDAA, CCZA)15 A

-Fuel supply relay (for engine identification characters BUD, BSE, BSF, CCSA)15 A

Fuel pump relay (for engine identification characters BUD, BSE, BSF, CCSA) 15 A

-Fuel pump relay, fuel pump relay for additional heater, additional fuel pump relay, (for diesel engines)15 A

Fuses are passive devices that cannot cause problems unless the fuse itself is making poor contact.

Have you tried a new 15A fuse?

Check the fuse holder for poor/loose contacts.

Is there any difference in the thickness of the contact blades between the two fuse sizes?

Any signs of corrosion or overheating in the fuse holder?

I used a new fuse. Errors are gone and the car works fine so far. Attached are bad vs good fuses, and my fuse box.

Thank you guys for your guidance.

Glad to help you find a solution.

Looking at the contacts on the old fuse, surprised to see there are no clean marks from when you pulled it out. This suggests that the contacts into which the fuse plugs are not exerting much contact force.

Take a look at the fuse box contacts for abnormal signs.

The fuses and fuse box have a sand covering which is perhaps not unusual in Egypt but could be part of the cause of poor contact?

Yes, weather here is dusty and I have to vacuum monthly.

I checked the rest and cleaned them all as well.

I got another weird problem by the way. The glass lift master switch doesn’t illuminate except for the center button, picture attached. So, I wonder why and how to solve this problem. A photograph of the hood fuse box is attached too, just in case you wanna take a look.

cheers!

The lighting for the switches comes from the drivers door control unit. Since one of the switches is illuminated, I would suspect a poor connection at the switch assembly. (The centre switch has its own feed).

Prise up the switch assembly using a plastic tool (or possibly give a sharp upward pull) to release it then unclip the cable. Check for poor contact in the plug. You may have sand in there!

Alternatively you may have a fault on the switch board so look carefully for damage on the tracks, particularly near the connector.

Reverse the procedure to replace again.

If you don't find the cause then further investigation will need help from someone local who can check with a multimeter that the two lighting outputs are there at the door control unit.
