Regeneration

Featured Replies

With this warm tempetures  and when parking the engine starts regenerating which is so loud that passer bye think I have left it on. This has happened since the emissions upgrade was done. Is that normal?.

It seems to be usual after 'The Fix'.

When was it done and why did you have it done?

Probably.

The emissions fix causes the car to produce more soot and therefore regenerate the DPF more often. Given that, it's more likely you'll interrupt the regeneration and the fans will stay on to cool things down when you stop.

For piece of mind, you can check the oil ash level, soot loading and for any fault codes using VCDS or similar.

Thanks guys, the "fix" was done 10/17 and we are on the two year service or was as last time 9/18 they changed to annual, at time was bit annoyed but as this regeneration goes on  the oil over couple of years might get contaminated.
