This was a fault on the mk 1 vrs, is this also a problem with mk 2 or do I need to look elsewhere for my gremlin 🤪

...Are you sure this is a fault or that you just dint start properly?

Don't expect a car to start on the button, every single time. Most of the time they will but occasionally, they might be a little reluctant. Two turns sounds ok as a one off but do make sure you let the glow plug light go out on a diesel or allow a second or two prior to starting a petrol anyway. Just turn the key to accessory or where the dash lights come on, fasten your belt, then start the car. The small pause allows the fuel pump to react, enough power to the starter, etc. Additionally, sometimes people actually let the key go too soon, thus the car won't ignite. Clearly you don't want the key still trying to fire up the car once it is running but don't let go too fast.

Good point but this is defo a gremlin, now thinking fuel evap or pump on way out, maybe once a day it cranks excessively engine spins doesnt fire up, will work it out eventually
