Driver door sensor

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Third problem I'm posting in about 10 minutes! 🙂 This is the last one for now.

Ever since I bought the car, last year, the sensor doesn't work on the driver's door.

The car is oblivious if the door is opened or not. All of the other doors show up on the display when they are opened, the driver's door doesn't.

This means that when I unlock the door and get in, if I don't start the engine fairly quickly, the alarm goes off! 🙂

It also means that there's no warning if I leave the car with the lights on. At least, I'm assuming that I'd get a warning about leaving the lights on if the car knew that I was opening the door. Maybe it doesn't do that?

Is this something that I can get to the bottom of, or do I need an expert?

Thanks,

Damian

I’d check the door wiring loom in the rubber bellows for broken wires first.

Thanks Tech1e,

Should I be trying to strip this down to investigate?

Is there a guide anywhere on how to do that?

Thanks,

Damian

I don't know, should you?

Don't think there is a guide but it's been covered plenty.

I have the same problem, and so do many vag owners as it is prone to failure, though clearly not prone enough for VAG to do anything about it.

Anyway, until I get around to sorting it, my solution at the moment is open and close the back door once before getting in. This disables the alarm because the car detects that the rear door has been opened so it won’t auto lock and auto reengage the alarm.
