rear wiper

Featured Replies

another one for you guys.

rear wiper has stopped working.any suggestions

manythanks

Common problem and many posts. On hatchbacks it is often water leaking into the motor or shaft seizure a result of the washer water being piped through the shaft.

On estate models it is often sticking brushes in the motor although there are numerous other possibilities for both types.

Edit

p.s. When asking for help it makes it easier if you add your car details such as year, engine code, body style, trim level etc.

Hello,

I’ve had recently faced this issue.

After I removed the motor for diagnostic it seems that there was a problem with the grounding on the electronic board from the wiper.

I’ve just resoldered it and everything works fine.

Can you share where is this grounding located?

I've disassembled the interior plastic covers on my estate but found nothing suspect - all looked super clean and rust free.

But I haven't tried looking behind the side cover inside the boot as it looks like a lot of trouble.

Hello,

Unfortunately I didn't take any picture.

Based on the pictures that I found on the internet here is the electronic board and here is the ground that I had problems with. I've just resoldered the ground and everything worked perfect.

Oh, ok.

I was thinking on the ground in the wiring loom - the point where it grounds to the chassis.

I didn't even considered the possibility of solder failures on the pcb - thanks for the heads up.

You're welcome!

On a similar note my 2012 hatch rear wiper will often not work when switched on but activates later when driving over a bump.

Anyone had this condition and fixed it ? Thanks
