Faulty bulb failure warning light

Featured Replies

Hi all, at my wits end here but I drive a 2011 rs octavia and recently the bulb failure warning light has come on, my local mechanic replaced all bulbs and checked the fuses but everything seems OK, a trip to an auto electrician revealed a fault is coming up saying my new headlights (minor collision front end got side swiped) have to be programmed into the ecu... Since it was in a crash about a month previous I brought it back to crash repair guy who never heard of this so he contacted skoda dealership who agreed to take the car in for there diagnostics, they also couldn't locate problem after approx 4 hours but gave the car back saying I would need to book the car in for a more indept inspection to locate the problem(sounds expensive), the car is now back at the original crash repair where he stripped the front end to see if there is any broken or damaged wires but 2 days later has failed to do so. Surely a bulb failure warning light can't be this complicated?? Has anybody on here had a similar problem, I cannot live with a warning light on the dash no matter how trivial. Thanks

Knowing what the code is would help a lot.

here are the codes the auto electrician are showing me (01042, 02657, 01539)  i made another phone call today to the skoda main dealer and the have told me its a waste of time bringing it back to them as there is nothing they can do as there programmes wont be able to do anything for this........

Based on those codes, you have xenon headlights. Assuming you do, looks like they need coding (was a headlight replaced?) and then the basic settings completing.

A Skoda dealer should definitely be able to do this...

Where in the world are you based? A local VCDS member might even be able to help.

Just needs the lamps coding in. And there isn’t anything more suited than the ODIS diagnostic machine.

OK thanks, I'll just go looking for someone who can do the recoding and hopefully put this one to rest

Most coding is done via a feedback programme so the coding should be pretty reasonable, even at a dealer

I have recently replaced one of my control units and found https://xenons4u.co.uk/

Really good. Struggled to find a decent used one on the web in this country until I found them.

Hi Andy, skoda have now informed me that they can't do the recoding as there is a fault reading on some control unit behind the dash, I checked the bar codes on my new headlights and the last 2 digits are different, when I connect up the old headlights the self leveling is working perfect it's just the new ones aren't working. Is this what the coding does do you know?
