5F unit removal

Featured Replies

The radio on my skoda octavia 2015 stopped working a few weeks ago, all fuses and power were checked and were all ok, turns out after a dealership check the fault is with the 5F unit behind the glovebox. I would like to investigate myself but not sure what i am looking for can anyone help. Dealership cost is £960 to replace it

Starter for 10, lots of useful info in this topic.

Is the the unit for the cds/sd card?

Is this the cd/sd card unit

Yes the CD/SD unit in the glovebox is the radio and looks up as module 5F in the CAN Gateway. The screen is just a screen, a slave to the radio unit.

223646509729. This one is on ebay is this any use?

Depends what radio you have now. You need to check the part number ideally but if you can’t remove it to find out please post a pic of the screen and I may be able to tell you which control unit you need from that.

Received my bolero unit and it works fine but it looks like i need the dealership to code it in and its £108 to do that. I tried a company online with codes but the couldnt find the correct code for mine so my £18.99 was refunded. Any suggestions regarding obtaining the code??

As mentioned in the other thread you will need to go to the dealer and pay for CP removal. These radios aren’t coded with a 4-6 digit code like radios in older cars. They are coded to the car’s chassis number and are locked down on a software level by VAG to prevent theft (and give a nice earner for them to remove CP on new and used parts). This process can only be done with ODIS-E with online access to VAG in Germany.
