Cycle Rack

Featured Replies

I have a 4x4 Octavia Estate and I am getting a E bike and am just wondering what would be the best way of transportation on my car. I have fitted rails on the roof and cross bars . Peter

Not cheap but fit a tow bar and buy a tow ball mounted Thule 916. Designed to carry two electic bikes up to a total of 60 kg and can be found secondhand from £200.

Most electric bikes are too heavy to lift onto roof bar rails and would also probably need side support too.

There is an electric bike section in Briskoda so take a look there too.

Thank you for reply and advice . Peter

Whatever bikes you are wanting to transport, towbar racks are the way to go. I use a 4 bike buzzrack buzzwing for my familys 4 conventional bikes and its a really excellent bit of kit, so much better than the roofrack I used previously.

I have a Thule bike rack (Clip on high 9106/9105) for 10 years.

This is attached to the rear hatch of my estate Octavia and can see that clears the number plate and brake lights.

I have no problems when I using it to travel across europe and loading on to ferries.

I have used it carry normal bike 15kg or my  ebike 21kg.

When I use it I lose about 10mpg because of the drag.
