  1. I have 1.2 TSI Yeti 2011, when I was checking the pulleys for the aux belt I notice that the tension pulley had bit play when I spinning the pulley. Is it a simple job to change the tension pulley or do have to remove parts of the engine to pull out the unit?

  3. When I was looking for a bike rack for my Yeti Thule did not listed a rear hatch fit unless you have a towbar fitted. When I was looking closely at the Thule 9106 I had used on my Octavia over the years travelling across Europe. Well I thought why not see if it would fit on the back of the Yeti? Carefully assemble the rack on rear hatch and checking that the clamps won't damaging the paint plus making sure that cleared the number plate and brake lights. You can see that there's no problems in fitting the rack. Only thing is there would be increase of fuel consumption due to the drag of the above the roof line. 1st image is the rack fitted to my Octavia Estate. The others are same rack fitted the Yeti.
  4. I had my Octavia 1.9PD cam belt, water pump and tensioner plus anti freeze changed in March this year at Lion Garage in Leicester which is Audi, VW, Seat & Skoda specialist . It cost me only £360 incl VAT.
  5. Hi I will be picking up a 2011 Yeti SE Plus 1.2 TSI Petrol with full services history at the weekend. is there a workshop manual or can I use the Haynes manual for the Octavia? Is there anything to look for? When I took out for a test drive run sweetly with no bangs or knocks. How often do you need to change spark plugs, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter and oil? My previous car was Octavia 1.9PD Estate with over 400000 miles with regular oil and filter change. Thanks
  6. This weekend my Octavia PD 1.9 passed the 400000 miles I had brought it when it was brand new in March 2009 since then has 2 engines, first one gave up after 168000 due to crankshaft shell bearing breaking up (Scrap Engine). 2nd engine still going slight blue smoke on starting first thing in the morning but nothing else. Still has original gearbox, 2nd clutch fitted and now with normal flywheel at the time replacement. One injector replaced, camshaft has been replaced. Can anybody beat this mileage? Michael
  7. I had my Octavia 1.9 PD since March 2009 but it has done 396514. First engine had lasted about 168000 a crankshaft bearing shell had broken up so the engine was scrapped. I had a recondition engine fitted and it still going strong with the mileage of 228514. I know it's not oldest Octavia can anybody beat the mileage?
  8. There is no Power Steering Fluid in the power steering system.
  9. Hi, I have a Thule bike rack (Clip on high 9106/9105) for 10 years. This is attached to the rear hatch of my estate Octavia and can see that clears the number plate and brake lights. I have no problems when I using it to travel across europe and loading on to ferries. I have used it carry normal bike 15kg or my ebike 21kg. When I use it I lose about 10mpg because of the drag.

  11. I use Lion Garage in Leicester for all the big repaires on my Octavia 1.9PD 2009 which has done 307400 miles (Used them over 10 years). I had similar problems last year with the clutch slave unit gave up. The Octavia is fitted with a 5 speed gearbox so the clutch slave unit is fitted outside the box but if you have 6 speed gearbox fitted its inside the bell housing (gearbox out).
  12. I had same problem last month, you don't need remove the gearbox to change the clutch slave cylinder. I had it done at Lion Garage, Leicester it was about £170 for the labour and parts. The clutch slave cylinder had done about 352000 miles when it gave up.
  13. I did the same job, you find the side light is tight in its holder. You will need small long nose pliers to grab the base of the bulb then pull straight out.
