A bit of a decision to make.....

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've just had some advice from the forum about sudden coolant loss.

It happened 6 months ago, and was fixed under warranty with a new radiator (advised old one was cracked).

This time, it lost it all and overheated so went in again. They phoned me today to advise that it was the coolant pump, which wasn't a massive surprise given other posts. It is being repaired under warranty.

My concern is...

1) Seems coincidental to lose a whole coolant reservoir internally, twice in 6 months

2) Could there be an underlying fault as yet unknown that is stressing the system...

I'm considering getting rid, which would be a shame as it has been great till 6 months ago. The reason being is that warranty ends in February...and I've a niggling concern about the above.

Vehicle is VRS petrol 2015 with 60k on it.

Thanks all !

Hmm, bad lack for sure.

Most water pump failures are just that, don't believe they leak as such, they just stop pumping, the fault is internal.

Is your pump cracked? Seems incredible it should dump all its coolant just like that?

Hi Mence,

I collect on Monday so will find out more. The service assistant advised it was 'quite a bad leak'...but I'd figured that out myself.

The oil seemed clean, but I'm a bit concerned in case there is engine damage, as my job involves lots of short journeys of 2-10 minutes with 30 mins in between, so I wouldn't necessarily get overheating. (Crap job for a VRS!)
