Key Fob Not Sync'd after battery change

Featured Replies

Hi Guys, first post, apologies if its not in the right place,

I had my engine battery changed, since then the key has lost sync, the buttons on the remote have stopped working.

The battery in the remote has been tested, and is fine.

Ive tried as per the manual pressing unlock on the Fob, whilst the car is locked. I've tried pretty much all the combinations of door open, key in ignition, door closed, door locked, door unlocked, open, close, boot lid open and anything else i can imagine.

Skoda Mansfield spent 40 mins trying to sync it and failed. They suggest booking it in at £110 an hour.

Also one of the windows now goes the opposite direction to the switch on the door. Funky .

I have read that it is easier to do with a second key. Should I order one and go down that route.

Or do you have any suggestions from experience ?

Many thanks in advance for your time and help.

Its a 2007 Mk2 VRS Diesel Estate.

Have to tried disconnecting the battery for a short while to force a reset of the electronics?

Thanks pikpilot,

I will have a go tonight.🤞

I have a similar car, MK2 Elegance estate 57 reg. It was parked up a few days. Battery went flat and remote locking/unlocking stopped working, but putting the keys in the lock still worked. I found some instructions similar to what you have been doing and managed to get one of the keys working properly again, but have not been able to re-sync the other key. There are some instructions on here where you put one key in the ignition and one in the driver's door, but that didn't work for me either.

I am sorry that I don't have a solution for you, but what I am thinking is that by getting a second key you could just be getting yourself some extra hassle, although it is always good to have a spare key in case you lose one. I am no expert but understand that if you get another key you will have to have the blade cut, will have to get the electronic part synced with the immobiliser, and will then still need to sync the remote locking.

As I see it you have 3 options:  1. Carry on down the dealer route @ £110 per hour, 2. see if you can find a local member with VCDS who may be able to help you by accessing the car's diagnostic system, 3. Keep searching for some instructions that work for you, either on here or on Youtube.

I am going to have another try with my second key. Will let you know if anything works.
