Facelift Chassis

Featured Replies

probably one for @Tech1e but just need some clarification on this one.

My understanding is that the first mk2's were a PQ24 chassis all round then in 2010 got updated to a PQ25 front end to take the new gen engines (1.2 tsi and 1.6tdi) but the rear stayed PQ24 but does anyone know the main differences of the PQ24 and PQ25?

Really want a set of B16's but when i bought the PQ25 polo ones the company wouldnt send them to me as they felt they wouldn't fit.

There are slight differences in the rear axle, but after 2010 there still are and there is a thread on this from a member changing the axle to change the drums for discs and which axle to get.

I had forgotten the members name.

@hutchysrs50  Very knowledgeable.

PQ25 went back to the top mountings from the MK1 Octavia rather than the bigger PQ24 mounts.

Rear axle changed but spring and damper fitment is the same.

I’m not sure if you can swap the top mountings, I’ve never tried.
