Sorry! Another Newbie Q!

Featured Replies

As in my roofbars post ive laid a deposit down on this car and due to collect this Thurs. Ive not seen it though as it is 150+ miles away so they are moving it to a local garage for me.

Over the phone the salesman has been great - theyve agreed to do the timing belt as the service history, while full, didnt evidence it and they are doing the doors as a warranty job as i'd seen posts on here and asked about it and there was some minor rusting.

Question is - it states it is 4wd? Based on pics I think it is only 2wd as it doesnt have the badges on the back and i reckon it is only a 5speed gearbox. Not fussed either way to be honest as i will be putting cross climates on relatively soon.

Thanks again!

Sorry not a help but someone that knows the cars will be along.

As to Parks of Hamilton, in Inverness or anyplace, just be really sure the car is right, any servicing they do is correctly done.

If the car has had the Haldex Serviced look at the invoice, just check everything you can including the T&C's of the warranty given.

What hp is it?
110 could be 2 or 4 wheel drive, 140 and 170 were only 4x4.
Badges prove nothing. I took the 4x4 badge off my old one as the local car wash always charged extra for 4x4's.

It shows as a 110ps, 140g / km

Yes. Its a 110ps.

Thanks for the help. Bought 2 Honda's from Parks before and theyve never caused me any bother - obviously i will give the car a thorough going over before putting pen to paper/paying for the car.

Cheers

Diesel 2 litre 110 PS with a 5 speed box mean that it is 2-Wheel Drive

However I would expect that model to be 132 g/km not 140 g/km so that's a bit of a puzzle. Maybe someone got their wires crossed with a 1.2 TSi 105 PS Petrol ?

I suspect the Autotrader description is a cut and paste job.

Lower door rusting isn't that uncommon.  It was due to specks of contaminants still left on the Galvanising because the steel wasn't 100% effectively cleaned prior to painting.  The specks are sometimes called "zinc inclusions".  This causes tiny corrosion sites under the paint, which after several years expand to bumps and eventually push through as a rusty blister.  It's a factory defect, but even within warranty, folks in the past have been fobbed off by dealers with talk of stone chips (as if they drove sideways perhaps ?). Respray is the only cure.

Thanks for the info Austin 7. Just have to wait and see but going by the interior pic it looks like a 5speed to me.

Dealer assured me the car was going into the bodyshop for painting. Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh 👍

Treating, filling & painting is fair enough usually but due to the Zinc Inclusion issues you need to inspect closely all the doors to see if previously painted or if maybe the doors were replaced.

Plenty threads here on the Zinc Inclusion issue.

The 2.0 TDI manual from this age 110 ps with £145 VED are all showing 140 g /km on Autotrader.
