hi looking

geting a yeti for the wife what to look out for

are they any good had lots of Skoda and Audis vw  cars before

just want some advice to look out for

At that age it will have had the emissions "fix" (unless the previous owner/owners refused it).  You probably don't want a car that's had that done - there are enough reports of issues following the fix from people who have had it done to put it in the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" category (since owners could refuse it, it obviously wasn't compulsory).  I'm pretty sure there is a way, if you have the VIN, to check whether the car has had the fix.  However, if you're buying it through a Skoda dealer as an approved used vehicle then it will almost 99.9999% certainly have had it done prior to being put on sale even if the previous private owner had refused it.

Something else to bear in mind with an engine of that age is that it won't be Euro6 compliant, which seems to be the break point for most of the low emission zones and congestion/emissions charging regimes that are starting to roll out.  That might not be an issue for the use cases that you have in mind but if it were me I would prefer not to have the inconvenience of a car that becomes illegal/chargeable when it crosses an invisible line somewhere within a conurbation.

With both these considerations in mind, I'd suggest seeing if you can find a 2015 (possibly 2014?) or later example that's within your budget.  Those models had the Euro6 compliant diesel engine and didn't need "fixing".  Basically, if there's an Adblue filler in the boot then it's the newer engine.

Those made after May 2015 will be Euro 6.
The engine will be the same just more emission controls on it.
