Perhaps a post advising gran on removing interior from eggs, but it might be of use to some.  Toolstation do a set of bits for circa £16 , or individual ones for £1.08

 I only bought the size I needed ,but I note that a lot of other sizes are available.

Almost all of the bits you'll need to work on VAG stuff (there are a few special Torx/XZN bits for stuff like gearbox drains that you will need to buy individually).

The Expert one is exactly the same as the one I have been using probably for 20 years now, think it came from Machine Mart when I bought it, never had to replace any of the bits in that time.

 

TBH the non expert looks identical but with a plastic case.

On mine- gearbox plugs ( like almost all of the cars I've had/worked on in over 50 years of motoring) are the traditional square typical transmission ( gearbox/diff) size. I mentioned the Toolbox route as a way to get decent torx bits ( in sizes you might need) at a reasonable cost, buying th bits you need as you need them .
