To buy or not to buy...

Hey, new to here, just looking for some advice from those in the know (mechanically I can strip and rebuild a motorbike but know nothing about cars lol)

I’m hopefully buying a 55 plate Superb elegance this weekend, body work and interior are mint and the price is very nice.

However, the guy selling it has told me that it sometimes jumps out of 2nd gear, not all the time and that the engine has no other problems apart from this.

He did mention that he was quoted £300 to fix the issue, something to do with the gear linkage?

He said that every other gear is spot on.

I know I need to test drive it (that’ll be happening this weekend) but would this put you off buying?

Its the 2.5l V6 TDI engine of that makes any difference? (Same as my other half’s, which I absolutely love driving)

What are potential problems with the 2nd gear issue? I do have some friendly mechanics that I can get work done with, but obviously I don’t want to be caught with my pants down!
