BWA engine?

Featured Replies

Hey all, not new to brisky, but not been in here before... we have just bought an audi A3 (2006) 2.0 tfsi quattro.... I believe its the same engine as the mk2 octy vRS .... I have a few questions.... how many of you have changed (or had a problem with ) the cam follower that runs the fuel pump ?  any issues with the chain that runs the cams? just trying to look for stuff to "pre-empt" to maintain it properly... Thanks!

Hi mate

The 2.0 TFSi has a few very common problems that I'd look over:

- Cam follower as you mentioned

- Diverter Valve

- PCV valve

- Ignition coils (you'd notice that though)

- Lots and lots of carbon build up (not worth taking apart just to check)

I'd definitely do the Cam follower ASAP if it hasn't been done, and if you're able to, have a look at the cam chain tensioner and chain.

Other than that they're good engines and make good power. Just keep an eye on it!

Cheers

Definitely recommend it. My mate bought a Mk5 GTX and it looked horrible after barely over 60k kms. 😂

Don't wait for the service, order one from the stealer and do it ASAP, mine had started to have a circle imprint on the face - caught it just in time!
