As Dundee Council have encouraged the use of Electric cars with the use of the millions they received in grants in the past 5 years to improve the infrastucture for EV charging,

free parking for EV's etc they are already introducing charging for charging.

City of Discovery, as in discover where to get the free money and spend spend spend and then need to bring in more money.

Dundee has high pollution levels in some streets. Lots of electric taxis when I was last there .Whats wrong with encouraging EVs?

That high levels of pollution down at the Seagate at the Bus Station and at the bus stances in the centre are obviously due to the buses now.

There is nothing wrong with encouraging EV's it is great and the right thing to do when so much renewables electricity is available.

What is wrong is how much EU money has taken and now are starting to charge for charging as it really has taken off while it just gets going around the rest of Scotland and there is Free Charging.

 

Dundee and area drivers that were early adopters find out just how that can mean earliest in Scotland that were a bit conned.

It is the Dundee way taking grants though, it has gone on for decades and i know as i worked for Dundee Council.

There still is plenty of free charging available, it might just not be at the Council Car parks and facilities that was to suit those commuting into the City & that encouraged people to get an EV.

Dundee is Drug Death Capital of Europe, but Councillors are happy as Larry that the V&A is in the City.

Sad place really out in some schemes where there is real poverty.

Very true, but 2 clips are and if anyone is interested it gives them the keywords to do a seach.

Dundee Electric City and taker of EU and other funding and years of Council mismanagment sums it up quite well.

They moaned that Bus Companies wanted their new premises out of the city yet the Seagate Bus station has been polluting the city air for decades.

Hydrogen Buses in Dundee would be a 'simply clever' idea.

I do recall, on a weekend trip to Dundee (for an event George is actually somewhat familiar with as it turns out)  while being given a "tour" of the area around where we were staying ( ie walking back from the pub with a stop at the chippy) being rold by "local tour guide" (the lad tasked with making sure we didnt get lost - Dougie iirc) having a particular high-ish wall pointed out as "That's the suicide wall, where most people go around here to end their personal misery.. usually addicts."

Rather a sobering event during a pleasant post socialising walk, and that was in 2003.

Sorry but what has Fifers to do with the price of bread, or Dundee other than charging places for their EV's in Dundee.

 

Over the the past week while i have not been at my local Tesco there are new EV charging points installed and ready for use.

Seems th new occupants of Fife & parts closeby do not know of their reputation in other parts of Scotland. The saying was to align thm close to Aberdonians on the "careful with money" front. Bit of research into local history ,per😁haps ?

WTF has 'Fife' to do with anything? The Tay Bridge is free and no longer any need to pay to get into or out of Fife.

 What you said about Fifers has been said for many years, as is 'They can start a fight in an empty house'.   Dundee is not in Fife though.

 

A bit of a renewing of your knowledge of the country of your birth seems to be what is needed.

You said it, and it perhaps applies to  parts further north. But I fail to see the significance of the fees on the Tay bridge. My comments on Fifers ( and those often associated with Fife ,up to and including Dundee ) come from my ancestry from fishing ports a bit further north on the east coast, where any thing south of Arbroath was seen as stingy country.

 

Well this threads gone from some lad managing to come up with a more efficient diesel injection system to a one way repeated explanation of an already played out scottish stereotyping... i have to say this an almost commendable level of tangential discussion...
