Child seats

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I’d appreciate your views.

we are hoping to get a Karoq, but we would like to know if we could get 2 cars seats and a booster seat in the rear.

kind regards

Some of this video might help a bit, the Karoq had varioflex seating.

Thank you for the video.  Yes I did spot this, I was wondering if a booster seat would fit in the middle ?

cheers

I'd suggest popping down to a dealer and trying it in one (assuming you have all the seats).

The dealer was more than happy to help when we wanted to check car seat sizes in the Karoq.

Thanks Briggo, yes I think your right, we’ll pop down this weekend.

thanks

It very much depends on what child seats you are using (FYI the vario-flex won't help with width and thats where the issue lies not for and aft).

This is not an issue exclusive to the Karoq, most cars only have 2.5 rear seats with 2 isofix points only, not 3 seats with 3 isofix. There are some exceptions to this with vehicles such as vw touran and citroen c4 space tourer/grand space tourer.

If you are using isofix (which virtually everybody does) then there will not be much space left between these outer 2 isofix child seats to fit in a booster seat. If all 3 seats/boosters that you are using are seat belt type and not isofix it can be possible to wiggle them all in but is very critical on the types you have being narrow enough but is also far from ideal as they won't be aligned correctly with the seat belt points and therefore outwith child seat recommendations. You may need to put someone in the front passenger seat on the isofix option there.

Most people who need to install 3 child seats go 7 seater, it just works better and is much more flexible.

Other alternative is to get a multimac but they are v.expensive... and quite possibly not available on the karoq yet anyway.

We currently have a Kodiaq which is perfect. Went from a citroen c4 grand picasso which was a good family bus also, just not a great car.

Thanks for that, and there lies the problem as you described.  We currently have GrandScenic 7 seater and that does have the capabiilty for the 3 seats even with isofix.  I totally agree, very practical car (Renault) but just not fun to drive.....

Cheers

Craig

The middle seat is narrow, so wide child seats (and the sides mean they are often wider than you think) is unlikely to leave enough room

Might get a booster cushion in (backless seat), but these are only recommended for children over 125cm tall.   These used to be acceptable but rules were changed 2-3 years ago

If your biggest child is close to this might be a solution

Without knowing your childrens age & height, there is a possibility of adding isofix to front passenger seat (only about £35), although putting an adult in the back might not be your preferred solution

Otherwise as already suggested, see if a dealer with let you try
