Standard rear mudflaps

Featured Replies

Is it just me or is it odd that the Octavias (except the VRS) come with rear mudflaps as standard, but not front ones.  It's not as though they keep the back of the car particularly clean & mine catch sometimes even if I go off a kerb slowly. As they look relatively rigid and look to attach to the bumper, I am afraid I will unclip the bumper (or worse) over the next 3 years.

Are they there for a reason (perhaps because the facelift had a widened rear track) so needed for type approval, or are they something I can easily take off and then put back when I send the car back at the end of the lease?

Also over the weekend I am fitting Cross Climate tyres and their softer sidewalls may increase the issue.

I'd never noticed that. My car came with protection pack which I assumed was the same price for everyone but if some cars already have rear mudflaps as std then sounds a tad cheeky asking same price for protection pack.

Sorry can't answer any of your questions.

Having had two Mk3’s, one with and one without rear mud flaps I can testify that they actually prevent a lot of muck from hitting the lower rear bumper. A lot more than you might think.

Oh, mine is only 10 days old but filthy already. The sides of the car pick up much more so still odd just rears standard.

You can fit the genuine Skoda rear flaps to the vRS that they sell for lesser Octavias.  No problems at all, I did it nearly three years back.  A bit fiddly without taking the wheels off but that's the case anyway.

Are standard rear mudflaps on facelift Mk3 (non VRS) UK only or Europe wide?

Sorry Kental, can't help there.

(Also just to clarify, my vRS is pre-facelift.)
