How do remove/ reposition floor mat clips?

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Back to the skoda fold after quite a few years with a new karoq se tech.

Having some trouble with mats. The floor retaining clips in the carpet seem to be fitted in the wrong position on the driver side.

I have tried to remove one with pliers and persuaian and managed to break it.

I've got another one ordered but can anyone tell me what the trick is to remove them?

I've tried that no joy

Skoda floor mat clips are normally just screw in type.

Deffo a plate underneath

The ones with the thread are for when they aren't fitted at the factory and need to be retrofitted to accommodate the floor mats.

If the receptacles are factory fitted then you're going to have to lift the carpet starting from under the rubber door seals.

I'd be extremely surprised if they are in the wrong place. Are you sure their location isn't matching up to the floor mats?

Any pictures of the floor mats when clipped onto the receptacle so that we can get a clearer look at the issue?

Either way, in the unlikely event they were fitted in the wrong place in the factory, its a warranty job. No need to be attempting this yourself.
