Fabia1 mk2 Door Mech and Remote Central Locking

Featured Replies

Hi hello I'm new to the forum (hobby mechanic)

I think the driver's door mechanism on my wife's Fabia is failing. Her Fabia locks and unlocks itself, hazards flashing, whilst parked or even when driving along the road. It can't be left locked in a car park as it will invariably be open on return. If the driver's door mech is unplugged then the car resumes its normal locking behavior, except that obviously the driver's door is constantly open. Logic would suggest that a new OE mech (£130) would solve the problem. I know that the microswitches, in the electrical side of the mech, can be replaced, but I reckon £130 is a relatively cheap fix as far as car repairs go. Am I correct to replace this part?

Whist researching on BROSKODA net I read a post by okku12 posted in 2017. He upgraded his Fabia's standard central locking to remote central locking. He changed his central locking module (5J0959 433) to a (5J0959 433 A), the A is the remote upgrade, and then got a key/fob and a VCDS to sync them. Can I purchase a second hand module, with its already paired keys, and fit without any further VCDS sync of key buying? I know that fitting another ignition would need a sync, but does that sync apply to the central locking module too?

Thankyou BRISKODA and all you hobby and professionals out there, brilliant site.

Further thought....Would I take the innards, from the secondhand already paired keys, and put them into a new blank HAA key fob, then cut the blank to fit my ignition? Would the second hand key fob innards, together with my original key shape, work with my car/ignition/ECU?
