Changing road surface - steering deviates.

Featured Replies

I don't know if the 18" wheels are responsible but several times now, I've felt the car pull right or left just for a split second. This is not only through the steering wheel but I can feel the car deviate slightly as well. I've not got to the stage where I feel it necessary to go back to the dealers but I am wondering if anybody else has experienced this. It's not something I've noticed with my previous Skodas. I wonder if the larger wheels explain it.

Hi,

Have you got the lane assist on?

Try it with it off and see if this helps, I find this too when the system miss-reads the white lines.

^^^^ This.

@longedge What tyre pressures did the car have when you collected it and what did you change them to?

nothing to do with tyres its your lane assist it reads white lines or if its wet can read the tar line corrects your centre line you can test it by drifting to the centre white line if you dont react it turns you back to centre it can also vibrate the steering wheel thinking you have fallen asleep if you are on the mway you have to indicate to stop it doing it. to turn it off you have to press far right steering wheel button then scroll to lane assist then un tick the box you have to do this every time you start the car but you can always intervene

Rears are 34 and fronts 35 psi. I'll be damned if I can find "lane assist" anywhere in the menus so I don't know about that.

18" tyres should be 2.5 bar or 36psi all round

Page 131 Owners Manual  Lane Assist Usage Lane Assist helps to keep the vehicle within the lane. It is based on the boundaries of a lane. These may include lane markings, road edges or objects such as curbs or possibly traffic cones. The system is intended primarily for use on highways. Functionality As the vehicle approaches a lane marking, the system executes a steering movement in the opposite direction from the lane marking. The steering intervention can be overridden manually. No system intervention occurs when changing lane with the turn signal on. Status display in the instrument cluster display lights up - System is activated and ready to intervene lights up - System is activated and ready to intervene lights up - System intervenes lights up - System intervenes

Found it 😊 thanks.

First job for tomorrow = top up the tyres & reset TPM.

Second job = email salesman and suggest he mentions lane assist when doing a handover. I drove home over the moors and it kicked in at one stage. Just for a second I thought I was heading for the ditch.
