Warranty, parts on back order six weeks

Featured Replies

The electric sunroof on my 2017 Yeti is leaking into both footwells.  The dealer is repairing under warranty.  He is replacing the sun roof.  However the frame has been on back order for six weeks and the dealer is unable to say how long it might take.  The dealer has given us a Citigo as a courtesy car.  But it's a manual and my wife can only drive autos.  Today I contacted Skoda UK Customer Services.

Has anyone waited a long time for parts and how did it resolve?  I'm even considering trading it in.  But we love the Yeti and don't want to spend a lot to get something equivalent.

Can't answer the parts / warranty question, but (like me) if you like the Yeti you could consider "swapping" it for another late (2017) without the sunroof? Seem to be a few 1.2 SEL and SEL Drives starting to come on the market now they are hitting the 3 yr old mark...?

Also do you know what the actual problem is with the pan roof?....Most seem to be caused by the drain pipes becoming lose? Just had mine "glued" in place "just in case". I did not have a major leak problem but thought prevention is better than cure!

It's an opening, not Panoramic roof.  The dealer is repairing it under warranty and renewing the whole sunroof.  I'm not complaining!  I did wonder if it was only the blocked drains, but so much water got into the car we had to wear wellies.

You have an auto, and one of the drivers has auto only licence, and they offer you a manual.

Skoda Dealer logic reaches new highs

Its a complete lottery, basically none in UK warehouse so nothing delivered overnight

Might be in a European warehouse which is 3-7 days

6 weeks suggests none in any warehouse, and it is guesswork when delivered, this tends to be a holding reply, I have heard of similar and parts arrive few days later, other times it is 2 months

It was on order "from the factory".  Skoda UK have just called back and say it will arrive Jan 31st.  I'll wait and see.  They suggested my dealer get in touch with Mobex.  She's American, not disabled!

The dealer requested a hire car from VAG, under the Mobex scheme but VAG declined as they deem the car roadworthy!  It's got no roof!

So it is not roadworthy and tell them that.  They have to provide a like for like no matter what some half wit said recently.

VAG declined the dealer's request.

....another stunning example of VAG customer care.....I don't think i will be giving VAG any more of my custom when I finally decide to change cars!!

..and as well as not being able to make a leak free pan roof, they can't even get it right on a "standard" sun roof...beggars belief!!

@farty  have you read the warranty T&C, s?    The dealership is not the Warranty provider.   Call SKODA UK customer services and have the warranty claim dealt properly and provision of a suitable car. They are taking the Michael.

I'm confused, as the only sunroof I can find any reference to is the pan roof, so I can't see what roof OP has fitted.

That took 3 week for my dip switch, over Christmas period...

The op says what they have, a sun roof not a panoramic.  There is another thread on the page now with panoramic in the title.

I thought Panorama was a type that did not open.  But Skoda use the term for the electric sunroof on the Yeti.

No, I think "panoramic" is a generic term that suggests "the whole roof"...ie rather than the more traditional ones that mainly just cover the front seats. I think the term applies whether they are opening or "fixed"..in Skoda's case it would have been better to just fix a piece of glass in place as this would be a lot simpler to seal...

Well, I got my Yeti back last week.  The sunroof has been renewed completely and seems watertight.  The blind has been installed crooked and does not close fully.  They'll look at it when it goes in for its first MOT next month.  Skoda UK offered me £300 towards servicing or parts as a good will gesture.
