vrs tdi estate

Hello thinking of upgrading to a vrs tdi estate on a 14 plate what are any known faults

I've got a 64, the only issue I've had is the water pump problem (pinned thread at top of page) all fixed under warranty at the time, been a great car other than that.

Low profile tyres are a pain (easy to damage rim), but you're probably better at parking than me!  Had a stone through the air/con matrix which was expensive (grille and front bumper all one unit) Water pump and cam belt done last year  - no other problems. Nice car.

Having owned a Rallye Green TDi hatch on a 64 plate back in 2015 wasn't a fan of the way the gearbox (DSG) worked with the diesel engine, IMHO the DSG works better with the petrol TSi engines for what it's worth. Sure others like their VRS TDi DSG combo.:hi:Early cars didn't get factory sat nav until mid 2015 so 2014 that have it fitted would have been a cost option unless a subsequent owner has retro-fitted it.;)18" Alloys with 225/40 tyres ride better than 19" alloys with 225/35 tyres if comfort is important to you.:)

I've got a Dec 14 (built Oct 14) 64 plate diesel vrs DSG which I've had for 3 years. It's now on 74k and no issues. Its had proper servicing. I have Sat nav which wasnt an upgrade or retro fit so worth looking out for. If a diesel I'd be looking a little newer for Euro6 compliance which should hold its value a little more too.
