Amundsen internet connectivity

I have an issue (or it is normal) with my O3FL's Amundsen - that can be my ios's fault, but I'm not sure and wanted to ask.

Whenever I start the car the online services do not work, and I have to repeteadely press on Skoda connect menu on the infotainment, or toggle off then on the personal hotspot on the iphone menu for the internet link between the phone and the unit to work. (otherwise the phone is linked with the car immediately for music/handsfree etc, all related to BT)

Other people say that with an Android phone the internet is connected immediately, but since all my family use the apple system I cannot test.

Are there some settings to be done/is this normal?

It's frustrating that it will connect only if I open the WIFI menu of the infotainment, toggle my phone's hotspot option off and again on (it's ON by default). 

I was wondering if this is normal due to some ios restrictions, if I buy the Skoda usb modem and put a sim card in it - should the internet start automatically? (I know I would lose the usb connection for carplay).
