Macbook Pro

Featured Replies

Anyone bought one of the new Macbook Pro's yet?

I just wonder as I'm reading lots of (or a vocal minority) peoplewho are experiencing cpu whine/hiss when not doing much, screen inverter whine and serious heat issues.

I was thinking of buying on to replace this noisy and slow laptop - especially as i can dual boot it to windows, but the feeling at the moment seems to suggest waiting another two, maybe three months so theycan iron out the bugs - and thats despressing as the Mac Mini i bought recently has been flawless and was starting to convince me to turn to Mac.

I would wait purely because I think it will get a speed/spec bump when the Intel iBooks come out. (should be soonish)

I bought a G5 right after they were released and have had loads of problems with it. I think its a great machine, but it's the last time I'll pre-order a brand new model. Give em a few months if you can.

They need guinea pigs, the question is: do you want to be one?

Apple have just released a 17" version of the MacBook pro.

2.16GHz Core Duo.

that 17" is lovely - with a proper dual layer dvd burner (the others only have single layer which is disgraceful) and a decent firewire port (400 AND 800)

Even with my education discount though, it's till too pricey.

I'll wait till the summer, new OS release, hopefully be a truly trouble free purchase by then.
