Octavia estate 2012 1.6 tdi delayed start

Featured Replies

Hi,

Apologies if i use incorrect terminology.

when turning the ignition, the car eventually starts but it is delayed and am afraid this may mean trouble in the future and would like to get it sorted now.

It "cranks" and after about 15 seconds will start as normal. I think the battery is fine. I have recently changed the fuel filter.

Could this be an issue with the fuel injectors? any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Shy

Check the seal on the top of the fuel filter and down the side for signs of fuel leak.

After changing the fuel filter, if you have a poor seal then fuel will drain back when stationary thus requiring lots of cranking to refill the pipe.

Are you sure the internal seal was not damaged.

I am pretty certain that the seal is fine. But seems like a really good suggestion so will have a look this evening and let you know how I have got on.

thanks @pikpilot
