Won’t start

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Thank you in advance for any advice, you guys have really helped me out in the past.

I went out this morning to find my car won’t start. I turn on the ignition, dashboard lights up, lights work, stereo works, I turn the key further, nothing.

When I turn the key further I hear a faint whirring sound (which I believe is the fuel pump priming) but nothing else.

The car ran great yesterday, I did plug in an air compressor yesterday evening which worked fine but since then the car simply won’t start.

I have tried jump starting it with 2 sets of cables and 2 different cars, no joy.

A friend has plugged it into a diagnostic tool and no codes have come back.

Luckily the car is still in warranty (albeit for another 2 weeks, lucky eh?) and I am going to give them a call on Tuesday but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what it could be?

Thanks again in advance.
Stefan

AR - One very wise and helpful member put this in his signature "Knowing your car's engine code (and maybe putting it in your profile or signature so people can see without asking) is a fantastic way of helping others to help you with your car. It's listed on the data sticker on the boot floor (and there may be a duplicate in the service book). If you can't work out which letters are the relevant ones, just pop up a photo of the sticker (obscuring the VIN if you're shy) and someone will tell you."

I'm only making a point, before some others start shouting, but it's a case of laws of probability-

One of the derv powered- it could be x y or z.

Petrol -possibly another set of things to look at.

Just a thought.

Wire might have snapped off starter motor solenoid. It's quite common.
