Interior trim removal

Featured Replies

Hello all,

As my scout silver interior was not very looked after by previous owner I was thinking on getting a new ones or restoring the old ones. Inside door trim I was expecting to see something similar to Golf V (silver trim holds by small clips) but got a different view. It seems that plastic "metal" trim is merged with whole panel. Does any body tried to removing the metal imitation trims from the doors?

yes i did remove mine, to respray them with black paint. just drill out those "rivets"  for putting it back i used super glue. also you can melt them a bit and re shapem them like they are now.

I used small self tappers when I carbon wrapped mine.

Guys, do you have any pic from your bilds?

If no, I guess I will try melting first and drilling last 😁 A bit afraid to drill thought 😁

I think one of these plastic rivets might work as replacements (this one is for attaching the front bumper):

If you can measure the diameter of the hole and - ideally - include a picture of the countersink I should be able to tell you which rivet type and size could work.

Update:  the parts diagram shows 6.4x10mm pop rivets here: https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/octavia/oct/2007-419/8/837-837060/#4

The rivet that should fit is this one:, but check the head diameter

Thanks for a tip 😉. As I plan to remove these one more time (for Ambien light instalation) temporary solution was some spacers and screws 🤣
