Always thought people using spacers need their head examining as this is vanity rather than anything safety related.

In all fairness, as far as wheel bolts go they're fairly small. 

These are genuine original porsche 924 wheel bolts. 

Not a problem so long as they are clamping 2 solid objects together with close tolerance clearance holes and one spigotted to the other.

 

Its a big problem when you have no spigotting and 2 intermediate spacers with huge gaps around the bolts.

I totally agree, and have never fitted wheel spacers to any of my cars because of how dangerous they are.
