RVC retrofit - radio stopped working

Featured Replies

Does anyone know, if its normal that the infotainment display stops working after retrofitting Rearview camera before coding it?

My car is rather new, and before retrofitting anything i scanned with OBDeleven that showed no errors at all.

Today i retrofitted a highline camera, but afterwords my radio(infotatinment display stopped turning on.

The navigation in my virtual cockpit still works fine however and shows to errors, but music etc. is currently gone.

I followed the sellers instructions for wiring.

Videocable, white into pin 6, and black into pin 12 on the blue connector.

Canbus: Orange/brown into pin 12 and orange/violet into pin 6 on grey connector

The units existing canbus cables are fitted together with the two new wires as shown on the pictures.

I honestly can't see what is missing or what went wrong, but i figured it was stupid to start any coding before i know it's normal that the display doesen't work in these situations.

I made a new scan using OBDeleven, and it currently shows me 11 errors that all seem related to canbus (I guess its because it can't communicate to the radio?).

1 is on the gateway controller that shows "new equipment fitted", but besides that it's cruisecontrol, LED D7 etc. that it shows different errorcodes on (Both LEDS in doorpanels and adaptive cruisecontrol worked fine however when i was driving today after fitting the camera).

Did i fit something wrong, or is this normal behaviour until car is coded?

Car is MY2019, 2,0 TSI, DSG, Virtual Cockpit, Amundsen Navi, LED front, adaptive cruise (Small camera, no laneassist/roadsign detection).

Thanks in advance.

This is the quadlock connector before i changed anything for documentation in case anything wen't wrong.

Orange/violet was also pin 6 as it is now after the retrofit, and orange/brown still pin 12.

The blue connector there is now two black and white cables. The camera into pin 6 and 12.

You have spliced into the CAN here as it’s the Highline Camera so I suspect there may be a connection here. Run the coding and see how it goes then.

I would have Thought so too about the canbus signal. I cleared all faults, and ended up with 1 Error:

5f multimedia. Local data Bus, no communication. Static, code U10BA00.

I checked all fuses, no issues found.

i then tried Rewiring back to stock, with no extra attachments etc. As it was before the rvc install, no difference

i also tried disconnecting the battery from the Car, no difference.

ill try coding tomorrow, but currently the display is still completely black which seems strange.

carplay still works with siri, music etc. Just cannot see on the display whats is going on. Radio included (selected from cockpit display).

Yeah, im gonna hang myself next time i retrofit anything.

I piggybacked from fuse 10 for rearseat usb charging, but sometime during the retrofit of the rvc i had moved my piggyback from fuse 10 to 9 for some reason. The cars differ quite alot on their fuse placement, and i had found the wrong one for my car (ewin helped me here)

all good, no errors and rvc working as intended. 🙂

Ideal :) I ran the wire to an empty fuse slot that was switched 12v and fused it there. Glad it’s sorted!
