Fabia 1.9Tdi power steering

Featured Replies

My 2003 Fabia 1.9 Tdi power steering stops working sometimes & light comes on.  Hard to check fluid level (under battery).  Is low or dirty fluid probably the cause?

Check the earth strap between the battery and body.

Had a similar issue when I had my Fabia. Quite common to need replacing.

Also check for broken fuse links on top of the battery. They can make intermittent contact.

Low or dirty fluid is the least likely cause, as others have pointed out the system is electrical so an electrical fault is by far the most likely.

This was the answer  -  thank you !  I removed the 4 fuses in the battery lid (all looked OK) & replaced them the other way round.  I guess the contacts had dirtied over 17 years.  Thanks again for 1st class advice.
