Electric windows

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have a 2015 greenline elegance and the drivers side rear electric window does not want to stay up. If you drop the window with the switch it will go down fully with the auto function. When you come to lift the window the auto function does not work you have to hold the switch until the window is at the top. When it gets to the top it will automatically drop down by around a third. This game can go on for half a dozen tries until eventually stay up. I seem to recall the previous yeti we had did this and i took into Skoda under warranty but they claimed they couldn't fault it. I suspect they had 'reset' the system. Can anyone elaborate on this fault and if there is a reset procedure i can try to get the windows to reset.

Thanks in advance

I assume you have tried the general reset procedure of closing each window in turn then holding the up button for approx 5 seconds after the window has closed? Seems to cure most problems but yours might be more complex.

Yes i have tried this but only on the affected window. Would you suggest to try do all 4?

Something is probably causing excess friction and triggering the anti-trap function so it doesn't chop off fingers...

The plastic gears inside the window motor can wear otherwise, there might be something in the window channels. My Octavia's drivers window does it occationally in hot weather...

No harm in trying but might be worth lubricating the channels to see if it is excess friction activating the finger saver. Try a quick spray of silicone lubricant.

I'll try but that doesn't explain why the 'one touch' function does not work when lifting the window

It's because the windows motor thinks there's an obstruction so stops and backs off...

You need to find out what's causing the extra drag so it no longer trips the anti-trap function :)
