Towing - petrol or diesel?

I’m looking to switch from an Octavia 2.0 ltr diesel VRS to a Karoq, possible sports line. What are people towing with? I’m looking at the 190 bhp petrol as I think the 150 diesel will feel slow after the VRS.

Diesel has better power delivery at lower rpm which might be better for towing (I wouldn't know, as I don't tow :)

I have a 1.5TSI (150bhp) and turbo lag is noticeable + car feels alive only in 3000+rpm range. I don't know if 190bhp variant is any better in that regard.

Strange the 1.5 Tsi maximum torque 250Nm occurs between 1500-3500rpm.

You can never have enough grunt when towing.

You’ll find out what works best when fully loaded making a hill start.

Or heavens above, having to overtake someone - like the 55 mph Audi driver on the motorway a couple of days ago when I was riding shotgun with someone hauling a 7m caravan with a 3L X5. Now that has Grunt!
